Self portraint week 8

This image is one of my favorites just because of the memory it holds. Last summer I went to the NY renaissance faire, as I usually do every summer. I have been going to this event ever since I was 4 years old. I just love it. It never gets old for me. Every single year I go see the knife throwing show with Stewart and Arnold. They are father and son, and are completely hilarious. Since I see their show every single year, I always know that they'll ask a volunteer to come up and they get knives thrown at them. I have ALWAYS wanted to do this, so every year I raise my hand like an excited fifth grader and yell, "PICK ME! PICK ME!" but every time they didn't see me...until last year. I was so excited! Even though every single person in the audience cringed (including my aunt, best friend, and sister) I didn't care, as I was so excited to be doing it. I loved every part of it, and my best friend got it on video! Though I did cheat a little, and I think this was the image that my best friend took (mine came out too blurry) this image fits perfectly. In five years I want to be this famous photographer featured on National geographic with some crazy stunt or animal I've recorded. I have always wanted to work for them, and it would be a dream come true to have one of my images on the cover. I found a National Geographic magazine cover and just messed with the layers until I got the logo and the border and I added my own photo with the NATGEO font. Had fun making this!

  1. wow, this looks like a professional magazine design! I love this. I love that you not only took a photograph but spent the extra time to add in the sext and bar code in photoshop. I also like the lighting in the actual photograph itself. I think you did a really good job this week with your self portrait. I can't think of any weak points to it. Great Job!

  2. This looks really awesome. I also want to work with magazines and so I took photos of a specific magazine but I really like how you took an image of yourself and put it on the front cover of National geographic. I wish I had thought to do that! Like Marianne, I like the code bar you put on the cover, it makes it look real. Also what a great story about you finally getting picked after years of trying!

  3. I was in class cracking up to this image. I hadn’t even read the write yet. You look so sweet in this photo and then I read “How she deals with the knives” and I lose it every time. You did great work with the magazine cover. I’m glad you didn’t cut your face off with the words. That would have been a grave mistake. Your face is what makes the piece.
    Good job

  4. I think this came out really good. Everything about it makes it look like a legitimate cover that would be on National Geographic. The price tag I feel really adds to this legitamacy. The story behind the picture is pretty cool too. I don't know if I would be able to stand still while knives were getting thrown at me. Overall you did a really good job.

  5. lol this is great. Love your face. I think it looks pretty legit and the positioning of you and Stewart is good. Did he get ya? Funny picture only complaint I'd have is that it would of looked soo much better with his head in the picture, but no biggy. Awesome job aha

This is perfect for you! I love hearing about your dreams and ambitions. This is one of my all time favorite blog images because of what it signifies for you. You need to pursue your dreams! Make a plan for yourself on the steps it will take to get to this point. Let me know if I can help in any way. Great, great image!!
