Week 1

I was considering doing a portrait of myself with my cat, but I decided that I wanted to go for something deeper. I had recieved a pair of studio lights for Christmas, so I put them to work! I also had some left over white foam core, so I used that as my background. I used my tripod to level my camera, and put the setting to portrait so I could see how it went. Portrait mode is supposed to smooth skin, so I decided to use that setting first. After I set up the shot how I wanted it, I went to the bathroom mirror and with my trusty eyeliner, I wrote all over my face. I wrote out words that I would describe myself with. After I was satisfied, I went back to my set up and took photos of my face close up. I have never taken a better composed self portrait!

  2. I love this image! It is very simple but show a lot of deep emotion. I had similar idea for the people who went through by trying to suicide or on eating disorder, to mark on their wrist or anywhere on the body, "Stay Strong" like Demi Moore does on her wrist when she got the tattoo. (I think that's the right singer name.) You got a great composition in this picture too and it is very creativity. I love this picture! :)

Did you end up using a picture that you had taken using the "Portrait " setting?

    1. Yeah I did end up using that setting, I had gotten a book about my specific camera - portrait mode is supposed to smooth out the skin and create some contrast where it's needed. I took the photos in portrait and decided that I didn't need to shoot in any other setting, because I got the perfect shot

  4. This is great. I had to comment on this picture because I wanted to say how many words this picture says, other than the words that can been seen. With out reading one word, the picture says so much about the person under the words. This is great and I love it.
